MY STORY
Life’s an adventure – a journey of exploration, learning, and embracing experiences.
Each step writes our story, finding the extraordinary in the ordinary moments of living.

The adventure so far....
Hi, I’m Rini and I’m delighted to share a bit of my journey with you.
I grew up and lived in Adelaide for the first 35 years of my life. I met my husband there and we had two kids. While they were still very young, we made the radical decision to move to Italy “because you only live once”. It was a scary move but it turned out to be one of the best times of our lives. Eventually, we decided to return to Australia, choosing Tasmania to settle in. We’d visited Tasmania on holiday and just loved the untouched wilderness, the clean air, the cool climate, and the people. This is where I call home now!
Ever since I was a young girl, I’ve felt happiest being in nature. We always had a menagerie of pets to care for, and family holidays were spent camping in the wilderness or visiting relatives in small country towns. These days, I love the abundance and variety of wildlife I’m privileged to experience here on our property. Being out in nature is therapy for me and I feel the call of the trees whenever I am away from it.
I’ve worn many hats as a career entrepreneur since 1995. I’ve founded businesses across a range of industries including photography, IT, retail, and beauty. When we first arrived in Tasmania, my husband and I opened a cafe, diving headfirst into the heart of this wonderful rural community. After we sold the cafe, Wilderness Lab was born. This is my current business and combines my passion for Perfumery and my love of nature. Excitingly, I now have stockists scattered across every state of Australia, New Zealand, and Taiwan.
My love of learning has earned me a Bachelor of Science, a Diploma in Social Media Marketing, a Certificate in Multimedia Design, and mix of other minor certifications including Snake Handling!
At age 50, I was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and this has made a huge impact on my life. Of course, I have always been Autistic, but getting an actual diagnosis has allowed me to reflect on my life and explore who I am in a way that simply makes more sense. I’m on a mission to share this with people, and hopefully educate and help others who might be wondering about ASD.
I find joy in hiking, gardening, cooking, travelling, and indulging in a bit of interior decorating from time to time.
Thank you for being here and reading until the end!
